This is a close copy of an axe that was in use during the Viking age. It is known as a Petersen type C axe.
Axes were probably the most common weapon in the Viking age as they were common tools and used for everything from log splitting to ship building.
This one has a hand forged head. The dimensions are roughly 17cm from the front of the blade to the back of the head. The sharpened blade is 12cm long.
It has a 60 cm ash handle and it weighs around 900 grams.
